Children develop numeracy skills when they use mathematical ideas in their everyday situations. They begin to make sense of these situations by asking questions such as: How many? Does it fit? How big is it? Which way will I go? Is it likely to happen? How much is there? Will there be enough?
Marie Lyall

Hi my name is Marie Lyall I am a nanny with Wild Things.
My philosophy is to encourage families to create healthy holistic systems within their family.
I am married to Trevor and we have two boys Jonathan 27 who is a builder living in New Plymouth and Christopher who is a boat painter living in Perth. Trevor and I have been living in Mosgiel for the last 23 years.
I have always worked with families with young children, first as a Karitane nurse working for Plunket in the Otago area, then I graduated as an early childhood teacher in 1994. A good part of this time has been in the home-based sector as a visiting teacher, a home based educator and for the last 6 years as a nanny. For the last 5 years I have had the honour of being Simons Nanny and have enjoyed every day I get to spend with Simon and his amazing family. Every day is a fun filled adventure. I have also had the opportunity to meet and work with other wonderful families and colleagues’.
To promote safety for children and to enhance their lives and the lives of the people involved with them.
To work in the home-based sector is a privilege as it fits so well with my philosophy and I strongly believe the lucky children who get to experience a home-based setting have a better foundation to life especially in building relationships’ self esteem and confidence.
