what people say
“Managers ensure that consultation with parents and nannies acknowledges and respects all parties' values, needs and aspirations.
Regular newsletters, fortnightly phone contact with parents and monthly visits to nannies and parents provide regular and ongoing support in a friendly and professional manner.”
ERO Report on the Otago Nanny Educare
Service Limited, 2002.
“We were a bit nervous when the arrival of our twins, following the birth of Olivia 18 months previously, meant we had to employ a nanny if we were to have a life and I was eventually going to go back to work.
The Otago Nanny Service was just great, interviewing us about our needs (even though we weren’t really sure about what we needed) and then sending two prospective nannies to interview. We knew virtually straight away that Sam was the one and nearly two years later she is still with us - she even comes on family holidays even though she does not live in.
Jackie and Susan come and see Sam regularly and give her lots of support. They work through developmental and educational programmes for all three girls and tailor them as much as possible to their needs. The system works really well, Molly, Sophie and Olivia get fantastic care and attention and everyone is happy!”

"I am an independent educator contracted to Otago Nannies to provided Early Childhood Education and in my family home. I have a N.Z. Certificate in Early Childhood Education – Level 5 and eight years direct experience in this field.
With this service I enjoy working with proprietors that are looking to solutions rather than problems within the many variable areas that arise in this field of work. There is a strong sense of working together to make daily operation flow smoothly and efficiently for all concerned.
I love the fact our philosophies of ECE put the needs of children and their families first and it is a service that is always looking for ways to do even better what they already do very well. This creates a feeling of partnership in a well supported environment of co-operation.
Communication between educators is encouraged and supported through information
sharing, professional development ,playgroups and socializing. While we as educators
are well supported, I know I am trusted to carry out my job well which is very
important to me. I feel my concerns are listened to and responded to. I have
been provided with good equipment and resources when necessary and the co-ordinator
has provided quick efficient responses to question and concerns and followed
up ideas & suggestions."
